Production And Distribution Of Our Film

We decided if we were going to produce our film fully and distribute it we would do it independently, even though this would be more difficult. Ways that we could promote our film would be to use YouTube as a platform to share making of videos and also the teaser trailers.
The name of our production company is: ZSL Productions.
Producing our film independently would also make it more difficult to finance. We could get money to produce our film in these ways;
  • Government Grants.
  • Tax Schemes.
  • Private Equity financing.
  • Hedge Fund financing. (also known as Slate Financing Deals)
  • Private Investors.
  • Debt Finance .
  • Paid Product Placement.
The way that most appeals to me as part of an independent film production company would be Government Grants, Private Investors and Paid Product Placement

GOVERNMENT GRANTS

 In a number of countries there a government schemes that help to pay the costs of producing a film.

For example the "UK Film Council" is a scheme set up by the government but it only provides financial help to a film if it meets certain requirements and conditions made by the council.

The governments of countries that run these schemes are willing to do so because they hope it will attract creative people to the country and create more jobs for people involved in the film industry.

PRIVATE INVESTORS

This is a difficult way to finace a film. The are funds given by a person who probably wants to add more risk to his investment portfolio, or they are a well off person who has a large interest in films.

PAID PRODUCT PLACEMENT

This is a good way to subsidize a film budget. You can do this when companies learn of your film and if it is fitting of the genre and time period of your film will pay the producers to feature their products in the film.
