Week By Week Diary
Friday 24th February.
This week we have done a lot of work on mainly the script and trying to figure out who is going to be in our title sequence. We have also done work on our storyboard.
Friday 2nd March.
This week in media we continued to do work on our storyboard and find a cast. At the moment we have a very rough idea of who is going to be in it. I finished the script today and we have printed off some copies to the people who might be in the title sequence. We also looked for locations to film in (blog post on the location)
Friday 9th March.
This week we finalized our cast (blog post on the casting), we also did all of our filming. When we came to start editing it all together we found out that we hadn't stuck to the 180 degree rule because of the placement of some of the props in the mafia dons office and we also realized that we hadn't stuck to the brief throughout most of our filming because we hadn't used a tripod. We now have to re-shoot our whole title sequence.
Friday 16th March.
This week we haven't done much. This is because we haven't been able to organize when our cast is free again. On Thursday we had a group meeting and made a new plan of when, where and who we would be filming. Due to unavailability and illness quite a lot of our cast has had to be changed. We're hoping that by the end of Monday all our filming will be done and we'll have the next couple of weeks to edit our footage and complete the task.
Friday 23rd March.
This week we progressed quite fast. Finding that we hadn't got access to our actors and the planned filming on the Friday before hadn't been done, we decided to change our idea. We decided to make our title sequence a lot simpler, we did this by changing our chosen genre. We chose to do a film that was about with kidnapping. To start this we chose a new location which was a shopping centre and a shop. We had to get permission to film here but that was easy to get. We also used the photography studio on a low key background for the final scene. We created a new storyboard for our title sequence within about an hour. We decided that we weren't going to include any dialogue so we didn't create a new script. All of our filming was done within a day, this was because the people who we had cast for the two characters were only both available on one day of the week. We told them to dress in normal clothes because we were setting it in a modern day town. The only main props we used in the filming of this was a DSLR Camera, a cloth, a chair, fake blood and some black duct tape. After we had finished our filming we decided to start editing on Thursday. We did this by cutting all the parts of our film we wanted and put them into an order that made sense. By the end of this week we had made a lot of progress and I am happy that we have got this far in our title sequence now. We need to add soundtrack and effects to our edit next week and then we will be finished.
Friday 30th March.
This week we completed our film title sequence. We added some special effects to our film to give it a blue/green tinge and the soundtrack underneath that runs throughout creates tension, we also used sound effects to create the shopping atmosphere and to hear the footsteps that are being made more clearly. We also took a microphone out and tried to record our own sound but our attempt wasn't very successful so we just used sound effects that weren't copyrighted.
